For the second tradition, we’re going to blindfold ourselves.
Polish maidens would try to predict what type of husband they were to have by blindfolding themselves on the way to midnight mass on Christmas Eve. While blindfold, they would walk by picket fences and reach out to touch them. If the picket turned out to be was un-warped and smooth, it meant they would find a resourceful husband. Conversely, a crooked and rough picket meant she would find a clumsy and awkward husband.
